This 1964 modernist home
is accented with handsome walnut woodwork dating back to its
original construction. When the kitchen was in dire need of a
remodel, Showplace flexibility provided the solutions. Hickory
in the rich Merlot stain gave close harmony to the existing aged
walnut, while hickory Pearl wall cabinets added a touch of two-toned
personality to the composition. In keeping with the mid-century
modern style, a sleek, no-frills design theme was employed. The
clean lines of the slab door style were complemented by crisp
white laminate tops, edged with brushed aluminum. Functionality
is a core theme of modernist design, and this small galley layout
creates a compact, efficient workspace for the cook. Yet with
the help of Showplace convenience accessories, storage remains
abundant and close at hand. The end result is both in keeping
with the period, and highly practical. Click a thumbnail below
